Darjeeling Blanc

Darjeeling Blanc

$45.00

Like wine, fine tea is largely characterized by its terroir. For thousands of years, white tea was only produced in China. Now, we bring you the delicate, floral tones inherent to white tea with the contrasting terroir of the fames Margaret's Hope Estate in Darjeeling. The lusciously long, thin, downy buds of Darjeeling Blanc display velveteen hues of French grey, deep sage and shimmering silver. They exude aromas of milk chocolate and warm, dry, sandy soil. The clear, golden brew smells strongly of Muscat grapes, a flavor for which the Darjeeling region is known. The aroma is rich, earthy and almost malty, which is rare for a white tea.The liquor's delicate acidity, light body and low astringency are expected of any fine white tea, but the infusion is set apart from other whites by Darjeeling's classic white grape flavor, as well as notes of lilies, milk chocolate and malt. This one-of-a-kind flavor is followed by a rewarding aftertaste of flowers, cocoa and honeydew.

Organic Silver Needles

Organic Silver Needles

$65.00

Our organic White-Tipped Silver Needles (also known as "Bai Hao Yin Zhen") is the pinnacle of white tea, as well as a personal favorite of David, CEO of American Tea Room, and one of our most popular teas. It is comprised entirely of needle-shaped green buds that are topped with tufts of silver down. The production of these delicate buds requires the utmost care, attention and skill, and the rewards of this labor are evident in the singular aroma and flavor they offer. The glistening dry buds have a bouquet of forest leaves and hand-tied bundles of herbs, underpinned by a honeyed, earthy sweetness. The brew is golden yellow and bright, with the aroma of a field of flowering grasses in fall. The flavor is earthy yet transcendent, with a sweet notes of ripe grapes, honeydew and flowers, and forest tones of fallen old-growth trees, loam and dry leaves. The subtleties of this stellar Silver Needle are best enjoyed with nothing added. Consuming it in repose is ideal - it allows for a moment of focus and clarity as the tastebuds fathom the nuances of this delicacy. It's also worth noting that the pure flavor of Silver Needles thrives under multiple infusions - just infuse the leaves a little longer each time. This tea is certified USDA organic.

Organic Ancient Moonlight

Organic Ancient Moonlight

$65.00

Classic and captivating, Ancient Moonlight is organically grown and hand-harvested in Yunnan's Da Yeh region during a short window of time each spring. It is a Bai Mu Dan-style white tea with paper-thin leaves and thick, velvety, shimmering buds in colors ranging from inkwell blue-black and espresso to walnut shell taupe and silver-sage.The woody aroma of the leaves only hints at the golden caramel infusion's unusually rich, dense scents of ripe melons, fresh apricots, sweet honeysuckle and cut bamboo.Although Ancient Moonlight undeniably sweet, it is not sugary. Seductive fruit and floral notes of honeysuckle, cantaloupe, honeydew and sprite melon are balanced by a hint of Bing cherry and an earthy undertone reminiscent of a fine Darjeeling Second Flush. A thick-yet-clean mouthfeel and slight astringency give way to a fruity, cool, almost tingly finish with earthy notes and hints of golden raisin sweetness. This tea is certified USDA organic.
