Chartreuse Tea Review

Chartreuse TeaLast weekend I visited Greenfield Village with my family. It is one of our favorite places to visit and we go often. They were holding a special Fall Flavors event along with a Farmer's Market. One of the vendors in the market was Chartreuse Tea. They are a made in Michigan company that features organic, caffeine free herbal teas.

I was first introduced to their teas while shopping at Whole Foods. The bright, chartreuse tea tin caught my eye. For an end of the year teacher's gift, I gave my daughter's two teachers a tin of the Peaceful Bliss blend. Highly appropriate I thought.

Anyway the Chartreuse Table at the Farmer's Market was a loose leaf tea drinker's dream. They had about 10 of their teas ready for sampling. They were all so good. I got to try Hibiscus Quench, Pride of Africa, Citrus Sunrise, and Mountain Green.

Hibiscus Quench

Check out the rosebuds!

I brought home three of their teas. Hibiscus Quench is made with organic hibiscus, organic rosehips, organic lemongrass, organic orange peel, organic spearmint, organic lavender, organic red rose petals, and organic stevia.

I love the rich color.

Mountain Green is made with organic green rooibos (my preference over red rooibos), organic orange peel, and organic lemon myrtle.

They also gave me Solomon's Seal, which I have not tried yet. It is Solomon's Seal Root and organic brown rice. I have not tried it yet, but I wonder if it is like genmaicha tea.

I highly recommend you try their teas, especially if you are looking for a caffeine free, herbal tea that is also organic too. You can find their tea at Whole Foods stores in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin and online at Amazon.com.

Spotted: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker

Breville One Touch Tea MakerThe hottest new item in the tea world is the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker. I must admit, when I first heard about it, I instantly wanted one. And it looks like so does everyone else. It is a hard item to come by, with many stores sold out or down to their last few instock ones.

While out and about this weekend I got to see one in person and it is pretty nice. The tea kettle part is pretty hefty and is a combo of glass, plastic, and stainless steel.

If you are looking for the best way to brew loose tea this is it. You can set it for Black, White, Green, Herbal, Oolong and a custom setting. It would be absolutely perfect for getting ready in the evening before bed and then walking up to a perfect cup of tea.

It works by heating the water in the bottom to the right temperature, then drops the steeping basket into the water. The basket is then lifted back out out of the water after a specific time. You can set it to keep the tea warm for up to 60 minutes after brewing.

The only drawback I can see to this tea kettle is the cleaning. You can not immerse the kettle itself, so you must wash the interior carefully. The steeping basket comes completely out though. The dropping mechanism appears to work with a magnet, so it pops right out.

I love the details on this. The kettle has a second guard over the pour spout to catch any loose tea that may have escaped the steeping basket. The stores that may have this in stock include Amazon and the American Tea Room. Definitely check out the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker. Super cool tea kettle!

Children’s Tea Set

Children's Tea SetMy daughter received this very cute Children's Tea Set for her birthday last week. It is made by Schylling and is a porcelain tea set that she can really use.  Just like Fiestaware, it is brightly colored.

It is perfect for brewing her own tea. She can either put a tea bag or two inside along with hot water or a loose tea blend and then pour over a strainer. It is also great for juice, water or lemonade too. Whatever her tea party guests prefer.

Haba Tea BagsHere is her little table set to enjoy tea and cookies with her dolls. The cookie set is from Melissa and Doug and those are Haba tea bags. Perfect for a pretend tea party. The plates are from Ikea.

If you are looking for a children's tea set, then definitely consider this one. We love it. It is available from Amazon. They have also been very reliable and offer fast shipping.

P.S. Here is a close up shot that my daughter took and really wanted to share with you all. Enjoy!

Electric Tea Kettles

The electric tea kettle is an integral part of our kitchen. It is used every day even in the hot summer months. I love making iced tea in the summer and I believe the best kind is when you steep the tea leaves in hot water and then cool it with ice cubes or in the refrigerator overnight.

Our electric tea kettle is used for making tea, hot chocolate, and sometimes instant noodles. Here are some of the best sellers on Amazon.com. Order one today and simplify your tea making.

The AWS Access Key Id you provided does not exist in our records.

Growing Your Own Tea

Grow Your Own TeaI have a bit of a green thumb and I love to be surrounded by plants. I came across this site the other day and got very excited. They sell tea seeds to grow your own tea bush with!

They say that you need a patience and preferebly a hillside with good drainage, but that you can also grow them in zones 6 to 8. If you are not in those zones, it says you may be able to grow them either in a greenhouse or by bringing it inside when the weather grows colder. I'm in zone 5, so I would need to do that.

I'm thinking this would be a fun project to try, so I will be ordering some seeds soon and documenting how they do here.

Herbal Tea Garden Starter KitIf herbal tea is more your style, I also found this great Herbal Tea Garden Starter Kit on Amazon.com that contains everything you need to grow herbs such as chamomile, lavender, and lemongrass.

How to Brew Loose Green Tea Video

Brewing loose green tea can seem like a difficult task when compared to the ease of using a tea bag. I put together this short video though to show just how easy it can be to brew a cup of loose green tea with just a few simple items.

You can find these items from the American Tea Room, the Tea Spot and Amazon. Order them today and you will be on your way to brewing a great cup of loose green tea.

Tea to Go Cups

While out and about today, I found these neat tea to go cups and wanted to share. It is a travel tumbler with a built in tea infuser basket. On the lid there is a little lever that swings the basket into the water. When the tea is done steeping, you just lift it out of the water and it tucks away in the lid.

It is dishwasher safe, which is a huge time saver for me and fits in my car's cup holder. I'm on the go a lot and love to bring tea with me wherever I go.  Oh and the lid snaps shut, so no spills either.

You can easily order it from Amazon and have it shipped right to your home. Check it out and let me know what you think. What is your favorite tea to go cup? Share in the comments below.
