I heard someone mention a Gravity Teapot the other day on twitter and my interest was peaked. I had never heard that term before. It turns out I knew what it was, just had not heard the term before.

The first time that I went into a Teavana store, I was introduced to a gravity teapot. Not only do they sell loose tea and accessories, they also serve tea as well. The loose tea goes into the top along with hot water and you let it steep.

When the tea is finished steeping, then you set it on top of your teacup and it will strain the tea into your cup. It is a great way to brew two cups of tea.

A gravity teapot would be perfect for having at home or the office. Easy to clean and you are all set to make another cup of tea.

Tea Ball Weight

Tea Balls can be a good way to steep your favorite loose tea in a mug. I have one though, that doesn't get much use because of the tricky way you have to hook the chain around the handle of the cup. If you don't hook it, then the whole thing falls in and then you must fish it out with a spoon.

Or if you have a mug or tea cup without a handle, then a tea ball won't work at all. My husband is an amateur woodworker and has been working on his lathe lately. He went into his workshop one day and told me that he was working on a surprise for me.

He came out later with the hand turned wood tea ball weight pictured above. It is made from Tulipwood and is coated with a shiny finish. It hooks onto the end of the tea ball chain and works perfectly. No more having to get the little hook into the chain or risking the whole thing falling into my cup of tea.

There is something very elegant about a bone china tea set. I was very curious just what it is and I found this out according to Wikipedia:

Bone china is a type of porcelain that is composed of bone ash, feldspathic material and kaolin. It has been defined as 'ware with a translucent body containing a minimum of 30% of phosphate derived from animal bone and calculated calcium phosphate. Developed by English potter Josiah Spode, bone china is known for its high levels of whiteness and translucency, and very high mechanical strength and chip resistance.

It is quite literally made from bone. Learn something new every day.

I love crafts with a tea theme to them. Today I want to share these Teacup Candles from Design Sponge. What a great use of old teacups found in thrift stores.

You will need some microwavable soy wax, wicks, hot glue gun, a thermometer, a microwavable container, and if you want to add color and scent them some dye and candle scent.

I'm wondering if you could add some tea leaves to the hot wax to add color and scent. I'm definitely going to try it.

I love double walled tea cups. Generally they don't have a handle and I love the smoothness and ability to hold the cup from any side.  Some of the best known are these Bodum double walled tea cups.

The double wall helps to insulate your hand from the heat of the liquid inside. And it also gives the tea a neat appearance as it appears suspended in thin air. They are made from borosilicate-glass to withstand both hot and cold liquids.

You can get just the Bodum tea cup or they also make an infuser tea cup that has a lid and steeping basket to make a single cup of loose tea. After steeping the lid holds the steeping basket to contain any liquid when the tea leaves drain. This version comes in black, green, orange, and red. Pretty and functional too!

There is also a handled version of this tea cup too, in case you prefer one.
